How it Works
The 6 stages of publication production
1

Stage 1

Receive data in the form of an export from existing sources or use Lockside to extract data from existing Quark XPress pages. Receive images
2

Stage 2

We populate vCatalog data repository. Load images. Set up access permissions. Enable on-line access to data and images. Enhance data and check images via browser client or bulk update from spreadsheets.
3

Stage 3

Together with the client, analyse the catalogue design and agree layout template sets. Allocate a layout template to each group of products. Create sample pages to test design and layout.
4

Stage 4

On instruction from the client, we output initial pages for first stage proofing, complete with images
5

Stage 5

When the editing is complete the production of the final proofs begins. The system automatically merges the data layer and the design layer, which automatically updates the Quark Xpress document file. The catalogue is then ready for any tidying up required such as image cropping (images are placed automatically but not cropped this is done at second proof stage).

6

Stage 6

PDF files are generated from the Quark Xpress documents and are made available, on-line to the editors, who check the PDFs and make any further changes on-line. Once final edits have been made it is simply a case of running the automatic update process and outputting the final Quark Xpress print documents.
